Directions: Take I-285 to Cobb Parkway/US-41. Go south & turn left on Akers Mill Rd. At the 2nd traffic light, go left into Cobb Galleria, then an immediate left into the parking garage. Enter the 600 bldg & tell security you’re there for AtlantaPHP, 14th floor.
SPECIAL NOTE: Since the Braves stadium is now open, and this will be a game night, there will be people monitoring the parking deck entrances. You will need to say you are coming to a meeting at ShootProof to be allowed to park (and also mention it to building security, as always.) It is best to arrive no later than 7pm.

Constructing and maintaining a fault-tolerant, high-performance cloud-based web application environment doesn’t magically happen; you must take deliberate steps to ensure that your environment is maintainable and available 24/7, even in the event of failures. This talk will explore some of the best practices to apply when hosting your PHP-based applications on Amazon Web Services. Topics include operating web servers, relational databases, load balancers, file storage, CDNs, and monitoring.
About Brian: Brian is Director of Engineering at ShootProof, an Atlanta-based company building web-based tools for professional photographers.
Brian has spent over 15 years in the industry, primarily building and maintaining web applications of all shapes and sizes. He has spent many of his years in highly-trafficked environments, working primarily with the LAMP stack, Oracle, and, more recently, Amazon Web Services. He has always been deeply involved in infrastructure and systems administration, which has given him a very broad skill set. He has also spent a number of years developing for Apple platforms. He lives in suburban Atlanta with his wife and daughter.
