Presentation: New MySQL Features That You May Have Missed

MySQL has gone to a continuous release cycle so that new features are added several times a year. This quickly provides a better product to customers, but the news about these new facets may have escaped your notice if you were not paying attention. You may have missed the addition of hash joins, multi-valued indexes, the ability to validate JSON documents before they are stored, dual passwords, the clone replication tool, and other improvements. This session will cover not only what is new, but how to use those new goodies.

About Dave: Dave Stokes is the author of “MySQL & JSON – Practical Programming Guide”. He is a MySQL Community Manager for Oracle and speaks up to fifty times a year on database related subjects. He has a MBA from the University of San Diego and resides in a very small Texas town. He tweets at https://twitter.com/stoker and blogs at https://elephantdolphin.blogspot.com/.

(Due to COIVD-19 limiting in-person meetings, we’ve joined forces with Boston PHP and Austin PHP to form MergePHP, your new PHP Mega Meetup Group! We’ll be working together to provide high quality speakers in a multi-group session. Otherwise, it’ll work like our previous online meetings but NOTE: we’ll meet on the second Thursday of the month for now, instead of the first Thursday.)
