March 2006 Meeting

When: Thursday, March 2, 2006 — 7pm-9pm
Where: New Horizons

Topic: PHP Frameworks

Our March meeting will, again, begin with a Tips & Tricks session led by Chris Spruck, after which Kevin Roberts will present on PHP-based frameworks, a topic that always seems to attract attention, and I’m sure tonight will be no different.

Following the presentation, we will begin our first group project: a member database. The group project will center around a series of “assignments,” the goal of which is to introduce PHP programming concepts and best practices, as well as spark some great discussion.

Finally, to round out our meeting, we’ll end with a few giveaways.

The meeting will take place at the usual location at New Horizons Learning Center in Tucker, GA, and those who wish to grab pizza and drinks afterwards are encouraged to make their way to the Mellow Mushroom following the meeting.

Well, the audio from the podcast attempt of our March meeting turned out much better than I anticipated. However, the Q&A session we had following Kevin’s presentation had to be cut for two reasons: a) time and b) it was too hard to hear most of the discussion. However, I think Kevin’s presentation turned out nicely for the equipment we had: my PowerBook’s internal microphone. See below for the links.

NOTE: The podcast is in MPEG-4 (.m4a) format. You can use iTunes or Winamp to listen to it; other players may work as well.
