May 2006 Meeting

When: Thursday, May 4, 2006 — 7pm-9pm
Where: Consulate General of Canada

Topic: Zend Framework

Copied over from our April meeting, which did not occur due to closing of New Horizons.

For nearly two months, the Zend Framework has been the great talk of the PHP community. Just one day following Atlanta PHP’s March meeting, the Zend Framework preview release was announced, and folks have been eager to download, play with it, and provide their feedback. At our May meeting, Ben Ramsey will take the Zend Framework for a test drive, outlining its current state, the direction it’s heading, and rounding out the presentation with a quick tutorial on using the framework (code samples included). Finally, we’ll start work on our group project, using the Zend Framework as a basis.

As usual, the meeting will begin with a session on tips & tricks, so if you have one to share, please contact Chris Spruck (chris at atlphp.org). Following the meeting, we’ll have our usual giveaways.

LOCATION UPDATE: We have an interim meeting place for the May meeting! Kevin Roberts has secured a room at the Consulate General of Canada in Midtown at the corner of Peachtree and 14th Streets. Click here for directions. Again, this is only an interim meeting place. I am still trying to secure a more permanent location.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (5/3/06): We are meeting at the Consulate General of Canada, which we have been informed has a security protocol to follow if arriving at the building after 6pm. You will need to see the concierge in order to gain access to the elevators to the 17th floor. There is no need to register beforehand for this. Simply let the concierge know that you are there for a meeting at the Consulate General of Canada.
